Found wood & upholstery materials, wood composite

In this project, each piece was designed to fit specifically in one location: on a fallen tree in Prospect Park, on a newspaper box in Chinatown, and on a water fountain. When taken off-site, they maintain their functionality but reveal the void of where they came from. Although their original contexts differ vastly, the three pieces are linked together through their found materials and joinery technique. This project utilized discarded furniture items, with their own unknown stories, that were found out of context but reimagined to highlight a hyper-specific locale in which they belong. Each piece is only complete when it returns to its original site but can be transplanted to find new meaning, its incompleteness holding the memory of its past.
